Brain Stimulation

In today's economy, lets just say you already own a decent house and a decent car. One day, you strike 6D and win RM 1,000,000. A million Ringgit in your bank account. What do you intend to do with that million Ringgit in your hand. Think about it and figure that answer out. It's a good exercise for your brain and also good for you to find out some information in the process.

Of course, only if you take my question seriously. Then you'll go get the answer. :)

  1. 1 million is not a lot of money in Malaysia terms. There are many people who have reached that level of finances, from what I know.

But I guess if you wanted to lead a somewhat ordinary life without going to luxuries, and you wanted the freedom of not working, you could just put that into Fixed Deposits. At 3% interest as with our banks' rate, you get RM30,000 per year, and that divided by 12 months, means you have RM2,500 of steady passive income per month. Enough to survive in Kuching, if you're single, no commitments etc.. but not much luxuries I would say.

.. heh, what do you think?

  2. The inflation rate can be easily 2 digits. On paper, it's around 7%. Let's just say that it's 7%, Every year, we lose 4% of the value of the ringgit. By that, we'r only talking about inflation. How about Hyperinflation?

  3. Yup, you're quite economically-savvy.. hehe.. In any case, I guess for all its worth, everyone's money being parked at banks are subjected to inflation, unless they peg it against things like precious metals, etc. My plan is probably just a risk-free method of how to generate passive income from a dropped-out-of-nowhere 1 million stack of cash. On the other hand, I guess one could probably use that for self indulgence like holidays and such, or they could go on taking risks to generate income, ie. using that as a capital for a business setup, doing investments in various portfolios, properties and such.

    Any others? hehe..

  4. For me, precious metals would be the answer.. I'm not sure about others, but I think people should be aware of the current economy crisis, that is why I this post was published in the first place. I hope that it somehow make people start thinking.

Sorry, I haven't got your name? Do you know me personally?

  5. Our debt-based monetary system is coming to an end. In history, no fiat currency economy can escape from a collapse. Today, the whole world uses the same fiat system. I'm sure that it's gonna hit all of us globally.

  6. I'm LJ, just following your blog from time to time, I don't know you in person, but nice to know you from here.

Yup, the post is indeed mind-opening. Lots of issues can be discussed and debated. I agree with the fiat currency. Also not forgetting sometimes the currency is also not pegged onto something, so it's just mindless printing of paper by the governments.

All in all, striking a lottery in Malaysia worth 1 million is not really a path to achieving total freedom financially. Work still need to be done with it, to groom the money so to speak. One has to be quite educated ways to do that. On the other hand, winning 20 million is definitely something! As you can read here: http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2012/10/24/nation/12216276&sec=nation. It would be worth another discussion eh?
